“The article “Dual Versus Dedicated Clustering in D-MIMO Networks With Aerial and Ground Users” has won the Best Paper Award in the area of Communication Networks at the 9th Workshop on Communication Networks and Power Systems (WCNPS), held online on the 12th and 13th of December of 2024.
The paper, authored by Maria Clara R. Lobão, Roberto P. Antonioli, Wilker de O. Feitosa, Yuri C. B. Silva, Igor M. Guerreiro, Walter C. Freitas Jr., and Gábor Fodor, was developed in the context of a cooperation project between GTEL/UFC and Ericsson Research on the topic of user-centric cell-free massive MIMO for airspace coverage.
In this work, the authors propose a dedicated clustering of distributed MIMO (D-MIMO) systems for supporting the coexistence of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and terrestrial users, where the tilt angle can be adapted to better serve each type of user.
The lead author, Maria Clara R. Lobão, is currently concluding her Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering at UFC and continues her research on D-MIMO within the context of the GTEL/Ericsson cooperation.”
