At the 2025 edition of the Brazilian Symposium on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (SBrT), the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) was represented in great numbers by professors from the Department of Teleinformatics Engineering (DETI) and by undergraduate students from the Telecommunications Engineering program, as well as graduate students from the Teleinformatics Engineering Graduate Program (PPGETI). In total, there were 12 students and 6 professors. The delegation presented the latest research results developed at the Wireless Telecommunications Research Group (GTEL), the Applied Signal Processing Laboratory (LASP), and the National Institute of Science and Technology – Signals.

Several awards and honors were granted by the Brazilian Telecommunications Society (SBrT):

a) The thesis “Strategies for Transceiver Design and Power Control for Beyond 5G Networks” by PPGETI alumnus Iran Mesquita Braga Júnior, advised by Prof. Yuri Carvalho Barbosa Silva and co-advised by Dr. Roberto Pinto Antonioli, received the “Best Thesis 2025” award in the second edition of the SBrT Thesis Awards. The work was co-funded by Ericsson Telecommunications as part of the 25-year partnership agreement maintained with GTEL/UFC.

b) The paper “Circuit-Based Modeling Approach for Channel Estimation in RIS-Assisted Communications” by undergraduate student Daniel Chaves Alcantara received the Best Paper Award in the Communications area at SBrT 2025. The paper was co-authored by master’s student Daniel Victor Carvalho de Oliveira and researchers Dr. Gilderlan Tavares de Araújo, Dr. Paulo Ricardo Barboza Gomes, and Prof. André Lima Férrer de Almeida.
