Professors from the GTEL (Wireless Telecommunications Research Group) participated in the Ericsson Research Day at the Ericsson Innovation Center in Indaiatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. The event showcased results from research projects as part of Universities’ collaborations maintained by Ericsson in Brazil, including GTEL from the Federal University of Ceara.
Professor Rodrigo Cavalcanti, GTEL’s coordinator, provided an overview of the Ericsson-GTEL/UFC partnership, summarizing the ongoing and planned activities across various collaborative projects.
UFC Professors Igor Guerreiro, Walter Freitas Jr., and Yuri Silva presented demos and posters on the project “User-Centric Access Technology for the Evolution of 5th Generation (5G) Wireless Communication Systems Towards 6G” which deals with distributed MIMO, air coverage for drone communications and radio-based sensing for future 6G systems. Additionally, the event featured presentations from other universities partnering with Ericsson.
The event was graced by the presence of research, development, and innovation leaders from Brazil and Sweden, including Dr. Magnus Frodigh, Vice-President and Head of Ericsson Research, and Mr. Edvaldo dos Santos, R&D & Innovation Vice-President of Ericsson Brazil. We also want to register the presence of Mr. Marcelo Prim representing EMBRAPII which is also a funding partner in the aforementioned project.
We congratulate Ericsson on this initiative and express our gratitude for the trust and partnership that has spanned over 24 years!
